Aston Villa have joined the competition to sign Italy international Mattia Destro alongside Arsenal and West Ham United.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Destro is being earmarked to take the place of Christian Beneteke who is set to leave the club this summer after Liverpool activated his £32.5million release clause.

Providing they are successful in making the transfer of Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, who has been heavily linked with the Giallorossi, Roma are reportedly inviting interest and offers for Destro.

It remains to be seen whether Villa can successfully bid for the Italian striker, however, there could be competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal and West Ham.
