New Aston Villa boss Remi Garde is reported to be showing serious interest in Charlie Austin.

Bottom-placed Villa have scored just 10 goals in 12 Premier League matches this season and Garde is determined to improve their output by luring the prolific Austin to Villa Park.

The 26-year-old striker has scored seven goals in 12 Championship appearances for QPR this term and is being linked with a return to England's top flight after an impressive campaign at Loftus Road last season.

Reports suggest that the R's are seeking £12million for Austin who was linked with a host of top flight clubs during the summer transfer window but ultimately remained in West London.
