Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos was delighted to make a winning debut against Walsall.

Carlos saw action in the preseason friendly victory on Saturday.

The 29-year-old was the only summer signing to feature in the match due to Boubacar Kamara, Philippe Coutinho and Robin Olsen all being given extra time off.

Following his first appearance in a Villa shirt, Carlos took to social media to give his reaction.

“A very special day to remember in a while," he wrote on Instagram. “A new start in a new home, very important result in the first game of pre-season, congratulations to all @avfcofficial."
