Aston Villa defender Baker eager to help Bristol City achieve promotion

Nathan Baker is looking to assist Bristol City to the Premier League this season.

The 24-year-old defender joined the Robins on a season-long loan from Aston Villa recently and apart from gaining regular minutes in a first-team environment, is eager to help guide the reigning League One winners to the top of the Championship table.

"I've not been playing lately so I wanted to get out on loan and moving to Bristol City is something that's worked out well for me," said Baker.

"I want to play regular football. I don't want to be sitting around on the bench – I want to progress.

"I've been on loan in the Championship with Millwall a couple of seasons ago and it's a tough league, but hopefully I can come here and help get the team into the Premier League."

Bristol, under Steve Cotterill, currently sit 20th on the tier two table with four points from five league matches.
