Aston Villa captain John Terry believes former club Chelsea should give Virgil van Dijk a swerve.
Terry insists Southampton defender Van Dijk doesn't have a divine right to stroll into Chelsea's team.
The Dutchman has been consistently linked with moves to Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and the Blues.
While speaking on Sky Sports, Terry said: "If you look at Liverpool he certainly goes into the starting line-up.
"Arsenal the same. Chelsea, he makes their squad better. Man City he goes into that starting XI. Same at Manchester United.
"I think he goes into all them squads and makes them better."
Terry added: "If they [Southampton] are demanding £60million, if I were Chelsea I would be saying more like £55m if he's not getting in their starting XI.
"I know Virg, he's a top pro. He'll get the move he deserves. He'll make that step up for sure."
