Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is convinced by the potential of his squad.

Smith was speaking after defeat to Manchester United.

He said following his side's 14th defeat of the season: "We know we've got a way to go. As I've said many times, we've got the youngest average-age squad in the Premier League. There's a lot of players still learning. We've had a fantastic first half to the season and an inconsistent second.

"It's also coincided with us losing our best player in Jack Grealish but I believe the players are getting better.

"You look at the likes of Ezri Konsa, Matt Cash, Emi Martinez. They are players the opposition managers are looking at with envy."
