Aston Villa boss Dean Smith was full of praise for Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe after their promotion back to the Premier League.

United loanee Tuanzebe started alongside Tyrone Mings again at the centre of the Villa defence as they secured a deserved 2-1 win to return to the Premier League for the first time in three years.

"I said to my coaching team that if the two of them (Tuanzebe and Mings) played well at Wembley we'd win the game," Smith said.

"Derby had a real attacking threat but we defended well. We've become so hard to beat."
