Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish was delighted seeing Charles N'Zogbia get off the mark yesterday.
Eck says the French international winger will add more goals to the excellent finish which secured a 1-1 draw against 2011 Europa League finalists SC Braga.
"In pre-season tours you can always question whether you did this right or that right and you wonder if you're totally right yet," he told Villa's website.
"But that was a good team performance this evening against a real good side and, yes, I thought it was very satisfactory for Charles.
"We lost some creative players in Stewart Downing and Ashley Young this summer and it was important therefore that we replaced them with a player who I believe has the quality to play for Aston Villa.
"I'm not surprised at where Charles is at fitness-wise either because he had 24 hours of work before he went to Dubai, that's 24 hours in total over a period of 10, 12 days.
"He went to Dubai to have a break and I think that was the right thing for him to do because he had been playing games in the summer for France and he didn't get a break then.
"So he needed to recharge his mental batteries as well as his physical status and it's good for him that he did. He'll reap the benefit of that now he's back.
"Of course it's always good for a player to score a goal in his first game for a new club and, as the game progressed, he looked more and more lively.
"His trademark is beating a player over a short space and if he can do that then he will open spaces for other players, which is what he was able to do several times tonight.
"But overall, as I said, the performance of the team was good and that's pleasing."
