Aston Villa boss Gerrard on Brentford defeat: Three chances and they scored twice

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard was left frustrated after defeat to Brentford.

The Bees snatched all three points in the 83rd minute courtesy of Mads Roerslev, leaving Gerrard dejected that his side conceded twice and failed to take any reward from the encounter.

“I'm really disappointed and frustrated at the same time," he told VillaTV.

“I don't think we should have lost that game, I don't even think we should have drawn.

“I think, for the control we had, certainly our first-half performance, we should have minimum taken a draw out of the game.

“But we've lost the game by conceding a really poor second goal and obviously in the first half we gave one opportunity to the opposition and they scored.

“So it's pretty easy to debrief, really, because we've given three chances away and the team have scored two goals against us.

“Teams are finding it too easy to score goals, certainly over the last couple of games, so we need to put that right sharpish."
