Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard hailed the home support after their 2-0 win against Brighton on his debut.
Ollie Watkins broke the deadlock with a fine solo run and strike in the 84th minute before skipper Tyrone Mings added a well-taken second in front of a jubilant Holte End.
The newly-appointed Villa boss had special words of praise for the club's supporters, who celebrated our two goals at Villa Park in similar fashion to Gerrard himself.
“They didn't disappoint. I thought the fans were terrific," he added.
“It's understandable at times when they get a bit nervous and a bit edgy.
“But the feeling at the end, the celebrations; they know it's a big win and it's something for us to build on.
“We won't get carried away, we'll work hard, we'll learn, we'll grow and we'll try and back it up next week."
