Aston Villa are moving for Bury defender Matty Foulds.
ESPN report Villa have made a bid for Foulds.
He had been expected to play in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy against Morecambe on Tuesday but he was left out of the squad because of the interest.
Bury boss David Flitcroft told of the interest, stating: "I'm protecting Matty, we've got some very good bids in for him now.
"It's been bubbling along for a week now and some fantastic football clubs want his services.
"We took a business decision to not play Matty, with the organisation and the business at the forefront of my mind, because I didn't want this game upsetting that or getting in the way of that."
Everton and Derby are also said to be interested.
