Assistant Stoke boss Bowen assesses poor start to campaign

Stoke City have picked up just one point from five games conceding goals along the way.

Assistant manager Mark Bowen: "Fans want the best for the club and they'll be hurting at the moment like this. You'd like to think that we'd have time to turn things around and that over the last three years we've managed to achieve some good things.

"The players we have are strong enough, the squad is strong enough to get where we want to get to this season. Obviously we've missed Jack Butland in goal and Xherdan who begin the season well with a goal. Every team can have injuries though and we have to take it on the chin."

"We're making individual mistakes and we are getting punished. Then we are getting punished trying to chase the game.

"We've got the right characters, the staff at the club, things will get better."
