Ashton claims West Ham star Bowen has outplayed Grealish

West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen has been better than Jack Grealish this season.

That is the opinion of former Hammer Dean Ashton, who was speaking to talkSPORT.

The ex-center forward believes youngster Bowen, who is a reported Liverpool target, is likely to join a big club in the next six to 18 months if he continues on his current trajectory.

Grealish signed for Manchester City from Aston Villa this summer.

Asked if Bowen has been better than Grealish this term, Ashton said: “Yes, head and shoulders, I would say.

“I would say the difficult thing for Jack Grealish is that he's having to adapt to a new style, a manager that demands a lot more and a team that's not going to constantly give him the ball in any area of the pitch.

“He's got to be more disciplined in that City side and he's getting to grips with that still.

“But you'd have to say Bowen has been magnificent and when you're looking at teams now that want to press from the front, he's outstanding at it.

“He will work and is willing to go back the other way and defend.

“He's got a great attitude and I think if he continues to do that and improve, continues to be a threat from set plays in terms of his delivery, then he will catch the eye of top sides and also England as well.

“But it's very difficult when you have so many players fighting for those positions."
