Arteta warns Arsenal players: I'll be ruthless like Pep

New Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he's prepared to bounce out any player who doesn't buy into his plans.

Arteta spoke to the press for the first time on Friday, where he outlined his delight and promised to be "ruthless", like his mentor Pep Guardiola.

"I want to do things my way by convincing them that this is the right way. I want people who are comfortable with what I'm asking them to do," said Arteta.

"I want people who deliver passion and energy to the football club. Anybody who doesn't buy into it is not good enough for this club and culture.

"I need to understand how they're feeling, what they're lacking. If I reach that point I can help them, they will trust me and follow me."

He added: "I don't want people hiding. I want people taking responsibility for the job. Anybody that doesn't buy into this is not good enough for this environment or culture."

Arteta was asked what he had learnt from his mentor at Manchester City, Guardiola.

He responded: "What I have learned mostly [from Pep] is you have to be ruthless and consistent. Every day is important, every act is important.

"The secret is that the people, players and staff have to believe what you are trying to deliver."
