Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta hopes that a viable path to the first team will lead to contract extensions for youngsters such as Charlie Patino, reports football.london.
The Gunners are aware they have many talented footballers coming through the academy, but that those players are desperate to get regular game time.
Arteta has a lot of faith in Patino and believes he can become a top player, but wants to ensure the young star is ready when he gets his first team chances.
"Charlie's been good. He played a practice match at Colney and he was really good," said Arteta.
"Again, give him time and we will prepare him."
