Arteta facing board frustration over Arsenal spending power

New Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is facing frustration from his board over his plans for this month's transfer window.

Sky Sports says Arteta is unlikely to be given big money to spend in January.

The Gunners boss has previously suggested he would like to add to his struggling side, but will have to make do with what he has at his disposal for the time being.

Former Arsenal manager Unai Emery splashed the cash in the summer window, parting with a staggering £137million on five new players, with William Saliba going back out on loan.

Arsenal weren't expected to go anywhere near this amount, with the club signing £72million Nicolas Pepe in installments, due to the financial restraints on them.

The Gunners are unlikely to spring another surprise this January due to the amount that was spent ahead of the season.
