Arsenal yet to meet Valencia price as agent confusion reigns over Mustafi

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is still attempting to fix his defensive woes, according to reports.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Gunners remain hopeful of sealing a deal for Valencia's Shkodran Mustafi in the coming days even though the two clubs are well apart in their valuation of the defender.

The North Londoners have not yet met Valencia's asking price of £30million for the German international as they rate him at closer to £20m.

Additionally, there is believed to be confusion regarding the agents involved in the proposed deal which has caused further delay.

It is understood that Mustafi, 24, has in principle agreed a five-year deal with the Gunners who are desperate for a new central defender following injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista.

The fact a fee has not yet been agreed upon, married with the agent confusion, has a deal far from done but Arsenal expect something to occur this week as they seek to bring in a new defender following the weekend's 4-3 season opening home defeat to Liverpool.
