Arsenal will not throw Barcelona's Song a lifeline

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he will not slap in an offer for Barcelona midfielder Alex Song.

The Cameroon international departed the Gunners for the Camp Nou last summer but his shift has not turned out the way he would have hoped with plenty of time spent on the bench.

It has been reported that Arsenal may be looking to bring the 25-year old back to the Emirates Stadium via a buy-back clause in his contract but Wenger says that is not an option.

"There is no buy-back in his contract," said Wenger.

"He is a quality player and sometimes the players have to insist when it doesn't go well and not change his mind too soon.

"My personal advice for him would be to give it another go and after two seasons he can still make a decision."
