Arsenal will have problems if they do not sign players quickly - Redknapp

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp thinks that Arsenal could struggle for a top-four spot this season if they fail to sign new players in the remaining two weeks of the transfer window.

The Gunners, who are reportedly in the market for a centre-back and a striker, have only completed one major deal in midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer which suggests to Redknapp that Arsene Wenger is short on quality personnel.

"I was not surprised at what happened on Sunday," said Redknapp.

"When I saw the teams I thought Liverpool were certainties to win. In the Arsenal team at centre half they had a lad from Bolton, Rob Holding. He will be a good player – he has potential.

"But he had to play against Liverpool alongside Calum Chambers. There was no way Liverpool would not score. Wenger needs to get his players fit quickly.

"Everyone knows Arsenal need a striker. Everyone knows they need another central defender. They have had all summer. Surely there must have been one or two they could have got. They have the money.

"Arsenal will have the same problems as last year unless they get players in.

"There are six teams – Manchester United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham - and any could win the League or finish sixth. Two of those big managers are going to have a bad season and be outside the top four.

"For Arsenal, a top four position is not guaranteed."
