Arsenal are believed to be now focusing their attention on Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

Reports emanating in Spain and captured by Metro suggest that the Gunners will look to step up their interest in Cavani after seeing their pursuit of Real Madrid star Karim Benzema hit a snag.

It is believed that Arsene Wenger is willing to part with £35.5million to land 28-year-old Uruguay international Cavan who has been linked with a Parc des Princes exit for much of the summer.

Arsenal were believed to be extremely keen on luring French striker Benzema to the Emirates Stadium but Real's asking price £46m has seen them alter their stance and make Cavani their preferred alternative.
