Arsenal young gun Gedion Zelalem is expected to pledge his allegiance to the USA after receiving citizenship.
The highly-rated 17-year old midfielder is eligible to represent his country of birth Germany as well as the country of birth of his parents, Ethiopia, but is appears as though he will seek to play for the US.
US Soccer president Sunil Gulati confirmed on Twitter that Zelalem was now a United States citizen and the process was in place with FIFA to have him eligible to represent the US.
Gedion Zelalem is now a U.S. citizen. At his request we have started the FIFA process which would allow him to be eligible for the #USMNT.

Zelalem joined Arsenal's youth academy in 2013 before making his senior debut in a FA Cup tie in January this year before featuring in a Champions League clash with Galatasaray in September. He is contracted to the Gunners until the summer of 2017.
