New Arsenal signing Pablo Mari is ready to hit the ground running.

The defender is on loan for the rest of the season, while the Gunners have an option to buy him in the summer.

Mari is the first signing of new boss Mikel Arteta.

Mari, who is a 26-year-old center back, went on Twitter and told of his excitement at completing the move.

He tweeted: "I'm extremely happy and excited to start the next stage in my career as a player at Arsenal.

"I'm really looking forward to joining my new team-mates and doing my best playing in this shirt. Let's go."

Mari arrives from Flamengo in Brazil.
