Jack Wilshere said Arsenal missed a massive opportunity to make the Europa League final last season.
Arsene Wenger announced he was leaving the club at the end of the season prior to the semi-final against Atletico Madrid.
Arsenal drew the first leg 1-1 at the Emirates and eventually lost on aggregate. And Wilshere believes they should have taken a bigger lead to Spain.
"It was a strange time for me and everyone at Arsenal," Wilshere told the Islington Gazette.
"It was a strange time.
"We were all trying to win the Europa League for him and to get the club back in the Champions League.
"But that 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid at the Emirates [in the first leg of the semi-final] cost us.
"We should have been about 4-0 up but we drew 1-1 which was a real disappointment."
