On-loan Serie B midfielder Jakub Jankto has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Arsenal.

Reports in Italy suggest that Gunners scouts were present as Italian second tier club Ascoli took on Avellino on the weekend, with Jankto the drawcard.

The 20-year-old Czech Republic U20 international is a central midfielder, who is on loan from Serie A club Udinese, can also be deployed behind the striker and has reportedly appeared on Arsenal's radar in recent weeks.

Jankto joined Udinese from Slavia Prague in 2014 and was sent on loan to Ascoli in the summer. So far for the Picchio, he has scored four goals and provided six assists in 24 appearances, including a goal in the 4-3 win over Avellino.
