Damian Emiliano Martinez is set to make his Champions League debut when Arsenal take on Anderlecht on Wednesday night.
The 22-year old Argentine goalkeeper will step into the Gunners line-up for the Group D meeting with the Belgian club with number one Wojciech Szczesny suspended and his back-up David Ospina injured.
Martinez, who had a loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday last season, has played just twice for Arsenal since stepping up to the seniors in 2012 but Wenger suggests he will capable at European level.
"I am extremely confident about him," Wenger said.
"He has the experience of Sheffield Wednesday and I have no special worry about him. He is two years older (from his debut) he has good experience and he has grown in stature as well.
"I believe we have to make sure it is as comfortable a night as possible and we do that by defending well as a team."
Arsenal currently sit second on the group table with three points from two matches, two ahead of Anderlecht, who have a draw and a loss so far.
