Arsenal put Leicester boss Rodgers top shortlist

Arsenal are ready to move for Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers after the dismissal of Unai Emery.

The Mirror says Rodgers is high on their list of targets as Arsenal begin the search for a new manager after sacking Unai Emery from the Emirates following a disastrous run of seven games without a win.

Freddie Ljungberg has been put in temporary charge while Arsenal begin the search for a new boss and that may give him time to make his own case for the job with the club not ruling him out as a serious contender.

Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta, who was a leading candidate to replace Arsene Wenger in 2018, is also on their radar along with Napoli's former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira is in the frame despite having a difficult time at Nice and also insisting he is going nowhere despite links to David Beckham's new club Inter Miami.
