Arsenal players convinced Arteta showing Willian preferential treatment

Arsenal players believe manager Mikel Arteta is showing Willian preferential treatment.

The Gunners again failed to win on Wednesday, drawing 1-1 with Southampton at the Emirates, with the result meaning they have amazingly tasted victory just once in their last nine games in the Premier League.

The Athletic reports one of the biggest gripes of some is how certain players are perceived to be treated differently to others by the Spaniard.

They claim one clear example of this is when summer signing Willian was permitted to start the game against Leeds United last month despite only days before taking an unauthorised trip to Dubai.

The feeling among some members of the squad is that certain players would have been punished or left out of the starting line-up if they did something similar, and they believed it was unfair that Willian was not reprimanded.

They also report that David Luiz was fuming to have been left out of the squad to take on Manchester United earlier this season as an injury precaution even though he felt fully fit.
