Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil may be a step closer to leaving the club.

The Gunners' highest earner is not even in their 25-man squad for the Premier League this season.

Ozil has been shut out of the team by Mikel Arteta, and may even depart in January.

The former Germany playmaker's contract expires in the summer and can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January.

According to Takvim in Turkey, Ozil met with Fenerbahce sporting director Emre about a move to the club.

The 32-year-old is also linked with a move to MLS in the United States.
