Arsenal have opened talks with Real Madrid for Martin Odegaard.

The Mirror says Arsenal have opened talks with Real Madrid about bringing Odegaard back to the Emirates.

It was a miserable start to the season and although Mikel Arteta claimed that wouldn't rush his transfer plans, fans are desperate to see arrivals.

Odegaard impressed on loan last season and with the Norwegian looking surplus to requirements at Real Madrid, they look set to make a move.

The 22-year-old has two years remaining on his Los Blancos contract but was left out of Carlo Ancelotti's squad for their first LaLiga game of the season.

It is believed a deal would be in the region of £40m.
