Arsenal have joined the battle for Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez.

The Daily Mail says they're set to beat Everton to the signing of Lucas.

The 27-year-old starred for Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga last season, bagging 17 goals in 37 appearances.

And he attracted attention from their Spanish rivals Valencia.

Everton were said to be deep in negotiations over a deal to take him to Goodison Park, but Arsene Wenger has pounced to meet his £16.9m release clause.

The Gunners boss is under pressure to recruit a new hitman ahead of next Wednesday's transfer deadline and has already faced frustration in his attempt to lure Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette to the Emirates.
