Arsenal are moving to trump Manchester United for Sunderland striker Sam Greenwood.

ESPN says Arsenal are set to beat United to the signing of Sunderland starlet Greenwood.

The Gunners are in pole position to land the 16-year-old striker.

Arsenal are eager to strengthen their youth ranks and Greenwood is seen as a potential star in the making.

He has also been the subject of enquiries from United and Stuttgart.

Greenwood hit 21 goals in 26 games for Sunderland's Under-16s and Under-18s last term.
