Lucas Torreira has blamed unnamed people for "acting in a bad way" following the collapse of his transfer to Fiorentina.
The Uruguayan midfielder has returned to Arsenal, where he has one year remaining on his contract.
Torreira enjoyed a successful spell at Fiorentina last season and the Italian club agreed a £13m fee when finalising the loan deal last summer.
Personal terms were agreed between Torreira and Fiorentina, but he will now return to Arsenal.
"Know I did my best to continue forming part of this club," Torreira posted across his social media channels. "But unfortunately there were those acting in a bad way.
"According to my understanding, they managed to stop this happening and that's why I must go."
It is still expected that Torreira will look for an avenue out of the Emirates.
