Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has offered his support to Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng after his brutal axing from the German national team.
However, the former Germany international failed to share a message of sympathy with both Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller, also of Bayern. Muller, particularly, was critical of Ozil after the Gunners midfielder quit Germany last summer.
Germany boss Joachim Low revealed on Tuesday he is not planning to call up the trio of World Cup winners again, effectively bringing an end to their international careers.
Ozil took to social media to share his exasperation at the decision that Boateng, his good friend, will no longer be playing for his country.
Alongside a picture of him with the 30-year-old, Ozil wrote: "Chin up Bro. Since our very beginnings in the youth National teams we celebrated so many special moments together. You're truly a friend and a great person on and off the pitch.
"I feel sorry one of the best German players of the last decades has to leave the National team in that way."
