Arsenal midfielder Nelson on Hoffenheim wonder goal: Nagelsmann tipped me off

Arsenal midfielder Reiss Nelson hopes to use his form with loan club Hoffenheim to break into the England squad.

Nelson joined German club Hoffenheim on loan in August, and has made an immediate impact – emulating the success of his mate Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund.

The 18-year-old told The Independent: “That's my best friend! I want to play, he wants to play and hopefully we can play together some day."

His latest goal, a thunderous strike in Hoffenheim's 4-1 win at Bayer Leverkusen, was probably his best yet in Germany.

He explained: “I spoke to the coach [Julian Nagelsmann] before the game and he said they sleep on corners. So I thought it was a great opportunity for me to go short.

“It's just one of those ones which you hit and you hope for it to go in. Luckily it went into the top corner."
