Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is keen on a move to MLS.
The Sunday Express says he is currently the second-highest-paid player in the Premier League behind Alexis Sanchez earning £350,000-a-week.
Gunners bosses are keen to get him off the payroll and his representatives are this week due to fly to Washington for talks with DC bosses.
They will try and persuade the Americans to take a punt on Ozil when Rooney takes up a player-coach role at Derby County in January.
But finances could become a major problem and Arsenal could have to fund part of the deal with salaries in the MLS nowhere near like they are in the Premier League.
