Arsenal midfielder Guendouzi left with battle scars after Marseille brawl

Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has shown off his battle scars after yesterday's Ligue 1 brawl.

Guendouzi was left with strangle marks after Marseille players were attacked during their Ligue 1 clash against Nice on Sunday.

The derby match was finely poised going into the closing stages with Nice leading 1-0 when Marseille star Dimitri Payet was struck by a bottle thrown from the section of the home fans.

The former West Ham playmaker reacted by launching the bottle back into the stand, sparking ugly scenes when a group of supporters successfully attempted to storm the pitch.

Marseille midfielder Guendouzi was among the players caught up in the scenes and was left with visible marks around his neck following the incident.

Guendouzi, on loan from Arsenal, was one of the Marseille players left with visible physical damage as both he and teammate Luan Peres were left with strangle marks on their necks.
