Arsenal manager Wenger: FA Cup win was emotional

Arsene Wenger has explained how the moment felt when the final whistle blew and Arsenal had claimed the 2017 FA Cup.

The Gunners, who have experienced a season marred by underachievement and fan protest, capped it off with by winning the FA Cup trophy after defeating Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley on Saturday.

Considering the barrage of criticism and backlash that Wenger, the players and the fans have copped this season, the Frenchmen could only describe the feeling of success as an 'explosion of the passion of people.'

"It's absolutely fantastic," he said. "I've won a few doubles and I know what it's like once a team is on a high.

"It's the intensity of the emotions. You go out there today, where can you get that? It's a special day for a football club and the cup is hugely popular in every single country. It's just the explosion of the passion of people.

"When Chelsea equalised, I thought, 'Here we go, that will give them a mental boost'. We thought they could take advantage of it, but we responded straight away. I was worried at that stage."
