Arsenal manager Emery: I'm looking to build on Wenger legacy

Arsenal boss Unai Emery says that he wants to build on the legacy of Arsene Wenger at the club.

Wenger left Arsenal a year ago, with Emery taking over and leading the team to a Europa League final.

However, they failed to claim a top four position in the league, which means they will not be in the Champions League next term.

The Spaniard hopes that his team can show better quality next term as he seeks to take the club into a new post-Wenger era.

He said during a press conference in pre-season: "First, I respect all the good things Wenger was doing here. I want to continue the good things and also change some tactical things and philosophy to progress.

"My idea is the same: I want a team with good positioning, good combination between the players, and also good experience in all situations, being able to attack and play with a big intensity.

"I like the energy, I like to be protagonists and this way is one process. I think we can take some matches last year where we can see this is our philosophy, our match, the intensity we want to create 100%.

"At other times we couldn't do that. But my challenge and our challenge is to continue developing with individual players and with tactical objectives to achieve and through it to take the best performance."
