Mikel Arteta hopes Granit Xhaka will reject an offer from Hertha Berlin.
Xhaka's agent confirmed his client wanted to join the Bundesliga outfit.
But after starting him in Sunday's loss to Chelsea, Arteta made it obvious he wanted the Swiss international to stay.
"I hope not," said Arteta. "He played at Bournemouth and did really well - very committed - and played a really good game.
"After the game, he started to feel ill and temperature. He was not feeling good and has been in bed for two days and that is why not selected."
Xhaka was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy by ex-manager Unai Emery after he reacted angrily to the club's supporters during a match with Crystal Palace earlier this season.
