Arsenal manager Arteta hopeful over imminent Tierney return

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has offered an update on the fitness of Kieran Tierney.

The Scottish left back has endured a difficult first season at the club, as he has missed significant game time due to injury.

But the club hopes that he will be back soon from a shoulder problem that has kept him out over the past few weeks.

When asked about Tireney's fitness in a press conference, Arteta said the following:

"He is much closer. He is evolving really well. He feels fit. He feels confident now. He's doing the stuff with contact, so hopefully we can have him soon."

When asked if he could be back for their next game on Monday night, Arteta said: "As soon as I don't know when! Whenever we decide."

The Gunners face off against Portsmouth in the FA Cup on Monday as they look to go deep in a competition that represents their only chance to win a trophy this season.
