Arsenal management assure Saliba of next season chance

William Saliba will have an opportunity to earn his place in the Arsenal first-team next season, reports have claimed.

The 21-year-old was sent on loan to Nice in January, where he has impressed in 17 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.

In 2019, the Gunners paid £27m to Saint-Etienne for Saliba but he has yet to feature for his new club.

With David Luiz leaving the club this summer, the Express says Mikel Arteta wants to see how Saliba performs in his squad.

Gabriel, Pablo Mari, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers are all options for Arteta at centre-back, while Konstantinos Mavropanos is on loan at Stuttgart.

It is unclear whether the decision to bring back Saliba will impact Mavropanos.

Stuttgart are keen to retain the Greece international for another season, but the Gunners might prefer a permanent sale if they want to balance the books.
