Arsenal, Man Utd target Howedes eager to meet England 'goal'

Benedikt Howedes has revealed that it is his 'goal' to play in the English Premier League.

The Schalke defender has previously emerged on the radar of both Arsenal and Manchester United and his recent comments will give the pair renewed hope of securing his signature in the not-too-distant future.

26-year old Germany international Howedes, who can be deployed at centre-back or left-back, has been with Schalke since he was 13 and insists he could never play for another team in Germany which has opened the door for a potential move to England.

"If I am to leave Schalke one day, I do not want to move clubs within the Bundesliga," said the World Cup winner.

"Schalke is too close to my heart to do so. But a move abroad at a certain time would be worth an experience.

"England would be my goal."
