Arsenal have increased their bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
The Sunday Express says the Gunners are closing in on signing Papastathopoulos after increasing their bid to £15.8m.
The Gunners had submitted a bid of £10.9million this week but it was turned down as Dortmund have demanded an offer closer to their £20million valuation of the defender.
Arsenal are looking to finalise the deal for Papastathopoulos as they look for a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen who joined Barcelona in August.
Papastathopoulos joined Dormund last summer from Werder Bremen in £7.5million move.
