Arsenal loanee Lucas Torreira, who is currently playing with Atletico Madrid in Spain, traveled to Uruguay to see his ailing mother, who has since passed away.

Viviana Di Pascua is said to have died after a battle with COVID-19 at a hospital in Uruguay.

According to Ovacion, the 53-year-old passed away after being admitted to intensive care recently.

Torreira flew home to Fray Bentos to see his mother, and she was in intensive care for several days in the city of Salto.

Her situation got worse, and her passing was confirmed on Tuesday.

The report does not suggest when Torreira would return to Madrid to resume training with Atletico.
