Arsenal legend Wright says SWP leaving QPR

Arsenal legend Ian Wright feels son Shaun Wright-Phillips will leave promoted QPR this summer.

The 32-year-old made just an unlucky 13 appearances last term and will now look for a new club, according to Wright Snr.

"It's not been for the want of trying," he said. "When the fans are wanting something from a player of his calibre and it doesn't quite work out - you can understand his frustration.

"Of course, he'd love to be playing more, but when his confidence is low he tries a bit too hard - and that's his only crime.

"Sometimes it just doesn't work out, and he's tried his best.

"For a player of his Premier League experience not to figure says the writing's on the wall, but he's got a career he can be very proud of."
