Arsenal legend Wright: I hope Chelsea skipper Terry heeds Capello lesson

Arsenal legend Ian Wright reckons Chelsea captain John Terry needs to realise he is not above being made "accountable for his behaviour".

Wright admits he was surprised Fabio Capello sacked Terry as England captain, writing in The Sun: "I did not expect JT to be axed as captain. And I certainly did not think it would take just 12 minutes. I thought Terry might have got away with an ear-bashing and a warning about his future conduct.

"But with revelations about his private life showing no sign of subsiding, Capello clearly felt he had no choice but to relieve his skipper of his duties.

"JT does not need me to tell him he has behaved stupidly. Or that he has only himself to blame for losing the captaincy.

"But it may just be the kick up the bum he needs as he embarks on what is a crucial year for him, personally and, more importantly to me, professionally.

"Unlike many footballers, he now realises he breathes the same air as the rest of us mortals, who also have to be accountable for their actions.

"JT has certainly been made accountable for his behaviour. If the Chelsea defender heeds Capello's wake-up call, then at least something positive may be salvaged from this sorry episode."
