Arsenal legend Vieira: Seven years without silverware not good enough

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira says the club's recent record is not good enough.

Vieira, now at Manchester City, accepts Arsene Wenger's teams still play beautiful football.

But he admitted to The Sun: "Every single manager who is in charge of a big club and doesn't win trophies will be under pressure. That's part of our football world today.

"The only way to keep people happy is to win silverware. I don't agree with it but I understand it.

"And I think any and every manager in the top five who goes six or seven years without winning a trophy will find themselves under big pressure.

"But they know it's part of the game, whether you're in Spain, Italy or England.

"So what Arsenal need now is to win a trophy, it's not enough just playing beautiful football any more."
