Arsenal legend Lehmann linked with Schalke

Jens Lehmann's return from retirement could extend even further than just one game with Arsenal after he was linked with a move to FC Schalke.

The former Germany international returned to the playing field with a solid performance against Blackpool for the Gunners in April after officially becoming a player again to help out Arsene Wenger who was experiencing an injury crisis in his goalkeeping ranks.

The 41-year olds future at Emirates Stadium is unclear but rumours have emerged that Schalke, who recently lost star gloveman Manuel Neuer to Bayern Munich, are looking for an experienced back-up.

22-year old Ralf Faehrmann will take the number one spot at Veltins-Arena but it is believed they are keen on Lehmann to provide cover.
