Arsenal hellbent on backing Arteta with 'quality over quantity' signings

Arsenal are pushing ahead with plans for the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are likely to finish fifth in the Premier League this season, after two disappointing defeats in a row to Tottenham and Newcastle.

However, Evening Standard claims that even if Arsenal only reach the Europa League, they will back manager Mikel Arteta in the transfer market.

The club are planning to prioritise quality signings over quantity, as they are aware of the need to improve the level of the starting lineup.

The Gunners have a core of very good, young players, but lack depth and world class quality in specific areas.

Arteta has informed director of football Edu and chief executive Vinai Venkatesham that he ideally wants two top players for every position in his squad.
