Arsenal goalkeeper Leno frustrated after Burnley draw: Risks playing out from back

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno admitted frustration after their 1-1 draw at Burnley.

Granit Xhaka suffered another day to forget against Burnley as his error presented Chris Wood with a bizarre equaliser to deprive Arsenal of a Premier League victory at Turf Moor.

Xhaka, who was sent off in the Gunners' December defeat by Burnley, received a short pass facing his own goal from keeper Bernd Leno and tried to clip a square ball to David Luiz across the penalty area.

However, he succeeded only in hitting Wood in the midriff and the ball bounced into an empty net for the softest of levellers.

Arsenal had appeared to be in cruise control after Pierre-Emerick Aubayemang's near-post strike beat Nick Pope to give the Gunners an early lead.

Leno later said, “We had many big chances. I think we should have got a penalty and at the end it is only one point and I think we deserved more.

“In the first half we played our game and we dominated. It should have been two or three nil and it was 1-1.

"In the second half we played too much of Burnley's football and it doesn't suit us or anybody in the Premier League.

On the Burnley equaliser, Leno added: “We wanted to build out again because it had been working and it was very unlucky from Granit [Xhaka] but it happens.

"There is always risk to play out from the back but this is our style. I think we have more than enough situations where it works to our advantage."
